Tom & Lynn’s Glass Story

We started our glass journey in 2015 while watching some glass artists at a craft fair in Norfolk, close to where Lynn’s parents live, and we became mesmerised with the beautiful colours and what you could do with some heat on this otherwise brittle material.

After taking courses on leading glass, copper foiling and fusing with some great people and teachers, we really fell in love with this wonderful material. Much practicing at home, learning from our mistakes and having lots of fun making pieces of art and usable products for our friends and family, means we are now ready to share our glass with you.

We have always found ourselves busy as self-employed builders and bringing up two beautiful daughters meant that we didn’t seem to have enough time to really let our creative side shine. Our daughters now have partners and have given us three wonderful grandchildren, who seem to fill our time almost as much as our own girls did! At the same time my muscles and bones are telling me I can’t spend as much time balancing on a roof or digging holes! We are now finding more time to enjoy our hobby and want to see where it takes us.

The name Willow Tree Glass comes from the piece of land where we now grow willow trees for firewood and a little bit of weaving. Just a small area of quiet space in the flat fen countryside.
